The Team

Galloway Botteselle & Company is 28-person firm led by eight partners – Brian Galloway, Al Botteselle, Brian Blamey, David Van Gruen, Saskia MullerSelena Nisbet, Mark Best and Allyn Fong– and supported by senior accountants, accounting associates, accounting and administrative staff. We are a strong believer in the high standards, professional conduct and ongoing professional development required by the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC and every member of our accounting staff either has the designation of CPA or is in the process of achieving it. Partner, Brian Galloway, in fact, holds the Association’s highly regarded Fellowship CPA. We are also dedicated to maintaining an inspiring workplace for our staff providing good opportunities for advancement, competitive salaries and a positive learning environment.

Brian M. Galloway

Brian M. Galloway, FCPA, FCGA, CFP   

Brian Galloway is the cornerstone of Galloway Botteselle & Company with a wealth of knowledge and over 40 years’ experience in public practice accounting, including significant experience in business transitions, reorganizations, tax planning and estate administration. Staff describe Brian as ‘a fantastic teacher’, one who sees merit and takes the time to ensure they understand all the steps in a financial process and how they combine for a successful outcome.

Brian was also a member of the Porter Hétu National Management Committee and formerly served as treasurer and co-chair. Also a former member of CGA BC’s Ethics and Practice Review Committees, Brian previously presented the Association’s lecture series “Practice Refresher and Orientation” seminar. He serves as treasurer for Epilepsy Canada as well and is an active golfer and fisherman. Brian lives with his wife and two children in Richmond.

Al started his career in public practice 1978, as a partner since 1984. Al has extensive experience advising and supporting clients in achieving their business goals. Galloway Botteselle & Company has flourished and grown serving a diverse clientele of business owners, professionals, public and private companies, non-profit organizations, individuals, trusts and estates.

Al helps clients with business and strategic decisions, including financing, business expansions, acquisitions, divestitures, valuations, restructuring, reorganizations, and various tax and personal financial planning matters.

Al has mentored many aspiring young professionals, providing guidance, support and encouragement, to help them achieve career and professional success.

Brian R. Blamey

Brian R. Blamey, CPA, CGA, BA   

Brian joined Galloway Botteselle & Company in 1984 and became a partner in 1996. Brian’s practice focuses on small to medium-sized owner operated businesses , including tax planning, business expansions or reorganizations, acquisitions, valuations, and personal financial planning. A good portion of his practice is dedicated to both incorporated and non-incorporated health practitioners. He also has extensive experience with not for profit organizations.

Brian is an effective lecturer and receives many requests for presentations to the medical and dental community on the latest changes in tax laws and how to effectively reduce taxes.

Brian was honoured to serve as the Chair of the Porter Hétu International National Management Committee, a position he held for 3 years.

David P. Van Gruen, CPA, CGA
 

David has an incredible sense of focus and attention to detail, qualities that CPAs strive for everywhere. Proud of his North Vancouver roots, David gained valuable insight working with a small business before establishing his public practice career. He provides a wide range of services to small and medium-sized businesses, professionals and not-for-profit organizations, individuals, trusts and estates.

David is also one of our top audit professionals with experience auditing public and private corporations, community service agencies, a sports organization, professional and not-for-profit organizations, plus administering trust and special purpose audits. His taxation services include personal, corporate and trust compliance, reorganizations, rollovers, estate freezes, and planning for capital and depreciable asset transactions while his consulting services include assisting with business plans and financing proposals, managing information system designs and implementation, business restructuring and expansion, and estate planning and administration.

Saskia Muller

Saskia Muller,CPA, CGA, B.Com 

  

Saskia joined the partnership of Galloway Botteselle & Company in January 2011 and became a Managing Partner in 2013. She has been working with the firm and in public practice since 2004. Saskia’s practice areas include working with a wide range of clients, such as newly incorporating physicians and other professionals, small businesses, and family trusts. She helps clients deal with all aspects of accounting, from payroll to taxation issues. She has also been instrumental in directing a large, not-for-profit audit on an annual basis

Selena Nisbet

Selena Nisbet, CPA, CGA, B.Com 

After obtaining her CGA designation in 2010, Selena became a partner of Galloway Botteselle & Company in January 2011. With over a decade years’ experience in public practice accounting, in addition to 3 years in trust accounting experience, Selena currently holds the position of Managing Partner at Galloway Botteselle & Company.

Selena works with a wide variety of clients including small business owners, professionals, healthcare practitioners and non-profit organizations. She helps to ensure all compliance with regulatory bodies are met, including payroll, GST/PST, WCB, corporate and personal taxation in addition to the preparation of financial statements, tax planning and providing guidance regarding incorporation and business practices.

Mark Best is a Partner at Galloway Botteselle and Company and advises private companies and shareholders on a broad range of taxation and business matters in the context of corporate reorganizations, private company transactions and estate planning. Staying on top of changing tax regulations and legislation, Mark ensures his clients are able to effectively respond to any changes in tax regulation and administration. He provides clients with progressive tax planning ideas, ultimately helping owners and entrepreneurs build value in their businesses and grow successful private enterprises. Mark has worked in public practice for over 13 years and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and has completed the In Depth tax course with the CICA, and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UNBC.

Allyn Fong, CPA, CGA, B.Com

Allyn has over 12 years of experience in public practice and became a partner of Galloway Botteselle & Company in January 2017. Allyn spent 5 years in Toronto in the private enterprise group of a Global firm providing financial statement consolidation, review engagements and corporate taxation services for medium to large private companies. His strong family ties brought him back to Vancouver and he was thrilled to re-join Galloway Botteselle & Company in 2015.

Allyn advises clients in a variety of professions and industries including medical/dental, real estate, manufacturing and hospitality. He is passionate about helping professionals and small business owners with their accounting, assurance and taxation needs including financial statement preparation and review, corporate and personal tax, tax planning and compliance.

When Allyn is not spending time with his wife and two daughters, he enjoys playing soccer, hockey and baseball.

Carol Zhang, CPA, CGA, B.Com

Carol joined Galloway Botteselle & Company in 2009. She enjoys the diversity in public practice and finds it challenging yet always rewarding working with the firm. Carol takes lead in the assurance engagements and keeps the firm updated with new accounting and auditing standards. She also performs a variety of other services, including compilation, taxation, estate accounting, due diligence engagements etc.

Briony Lennig

Briony Lennig,CPA, CGA, B.Com

Before joining Galloway Botteselle & Company in 2009, Briony gained valuable experience working in the private sector. She works with a variety of clients providing compilation engagements, small review engagements, specialized audits, and tax services for corporations, trusts, estates, and individuals. Briony enjoys helping clients reach their goals by advising on business practices and taxation issues. She has vast experience with a variety of accounting programs and provides support to clients requiring assistance with setting up a new company or with ongoing support. Briony attained her CGA designation and Bachelors of Commerce in 2013. When not at work, Briony enjoys spending time travelling locally and abroad with her family.

Wilson Kwong, CPA, CGA, BBA 

Wilson previously held several positions, including in accounting, within the financial services sector.  Having joined Galloway Botteselle & Company in 2010, Wilson has taken a client focused approach to providing clients with a range of services including compilations, reviews, personal and corporate taxation, and estate accounting.  He has a special interest in non-resident taxation and enjoys working with clients of diverse backgrounds.  Wilson majored in accounting and finance at SFU and completed the CGA, CPA designation in 2015.

David Bickerton, 
CPA PEP, BBA

Dave Bickerton is a Senior Associate at Galloway Botteselle & Company. His BBA in Human Resource Management and pursuit of the CPA designation allow a high level of technical and communication skills for clients. Dave has 5 years of experience with corporate, individual, trust and estate taxation and financial reporting services. He provides clients with value added services to achieve their financial and tax planning goals. When away from the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, and any other outdoor sporting activity.
